Cops & Bobbers

Saturday, May 17, 2025 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (CDT)

Description

2025 Cops and Bobbers The Polk City Police Department and the Iowa DNR are hosting a Cops & Bobbers event on May 17th, 2025. The event will be held at Big Creek Lake from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. All North Polk School District youth are invited to attend. Youth will be fishing from the shore with officers. This event is being organized with the goal of bringing local law enforcement and our area youth together, using fishing as a way of making a connection. Involvement in outdoor activities such as fishing has been shown to reduce the likelihood that children will become involved in criminal activity. Children below the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event and ages of 16 and over are required to have a fishing license. We encourage parents to partake in the event with their children and take the opportunity to interact with some of our local law enforcement officers. Attending families are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment, but we will have some equipment on hand at the event. Bait will be provided. We will meet at the Big Creek Beach Shelter House for event check-in and departure point. We ask that families pre-register for the event by April 15th. Registration is available day of, but preferred prior to the event for planning. See you there!
